Dana Robinson

Dana Robinson is a recovering corporate/trademark lawyer with over 20 years of practice (managing partner, Techlaw LLP, managing partner, US IP Attorneys). Dana also spent the past decade mentoring the professionals of tomorrow as adjunct professor and clinical director at California Western School of Law and University of San Diego School of Law. Dana’s contribution to the profession includes publishing Trademark Prosecution, a Casebook and Practice Guide (Lawcarta, 2021).

While Dana’s legal career clicked-along for two decades, Dana’s primary focus has been doing business ventures and real estate. His ventures span multiple industries, including three international businesses with operations in China. His most recent business endeavor includes a role as general manager for a PE backed HVAC/Plumbing company that scaled and recapped at 10x only 3 years later. Dana’s experiences include startups, buyouts, growing and selling, acquisition-integration, as well as various roles in the operations. Unlike many sponsors, Dana has been boots-on-the-ground, and gets his hands dirty in the operational side of the businesses he invests in. 

Dana was Co-Founder of an audiobook company that was sold to private equity group Shamrock, and recapped to KKR in 2020. He is a co-founder of Blisstech, an early stage audiobook publishing platform, and co-founder of an IP docketing SAAS.

As a real estate professional, Dana has acquired and exited multiple property management businesses, where he was investor and operator. Dana has owned and exited 100 doors of residential rental property. His experience includes complex 1031 and reverse 1031 procedures, entitlement, syndication, and workouts.

Dana’s investment banking experience includes three years at San Diego’s Shoreline Partners, where Dana held a Series 79 FINRA license, and was involved in numerous sell-side deals.

Dana has had several assignments as a professional neutral director, and sat on various for-profit and nonprofit boards.

Dana’s educational background includes a B.A. from Life Pacific University, a M.A. from Azusa Pacific University, a Juris Doctor from University of San Diego, and is slated for a Doctor of Business Administration (2024) in Luxury Goods Marketing from the Paris based Ecole de Commerce International (ESGCI).

Nathaniel Broughton

Nathaniel Broughton started his career as the marketing director for a startup called Show Me Tickets, which hit the INC 500 before it was sold in 2005. Nathaniel then cofounded LakeRental.com, which sold in 2007, and went on to be on the founding team at VA Mortgage Center, an INC 500 business that continues to flourish as Veterans United one of the largest lenders in the country. He founded Plus1 Marketing, which also hit the INC 500 list.

Nathaniel went on to co-found and sell three startups in the marketing space, and was a cofounder of SuretyBonds.com, which was sold in 2014.

Nate was a principal with Succession Capital (Lynx Equity), a Canadian private equity firm, where he lead several acquisitions. He is part of the executive team with Permanent Equity, a long term private equity fund based in Missouri.

Nathaniel has been part of the SEO/SEM community and been active in the domain name world throughout his career. He brings an unfair advantage to his investments with his deep knowledge of white-hat SEO, and his access to resources in the web marketing community.

Amidst varied business experiences, Nate has garnered a well of wisdom in the fields of DNA, fertility, government benefits, and real estate.

Nate holds a B.A. in business from University of Missouri, and has been a guest lecturer at Mizzou, University of San Diego, San Diego State University, and mentors future entrepreneurs through the Lanvin Entrepreneurship Center.
